Announcing the 2025 WLA Election Winners!

The polls have closed for the 2025 WLA Elections, and we have a fantastic group of incoming leaders! Thank you to all of the candidates who ran and the WLA members who voted.

Additionally, the proposed WLA individual membership rates restructure was APPROVED, for implementation beginning Jan. 2025. Please stay tuned while the office navigates this transition.

2025 Elections Timeline

  • Wednesday, Aug. 28—Nominations open (may nominate self or others)
  • Elections Open Houses
    • Board Interest Open Houses:
      • Tuesday, Sept. 3, 10:30-11:30am
      • Friday, Sept. 6, 4:00-5:00pm
    • Division/Section Interest Open Houses:
      • Thursday, Sept. 5, 1:00-2:00pm
      • Wednesday, Sept. 11, 3:00-4:00pm
  • Wednesday, Sept. 18 Tuesday, Sept. 24 — Nominations due date
  • Wednesday, Sept. 25 — Online voting opens
  • Friday, Oct. 11 — Online voting closes
  • Wednesday, Oct. 16 — Election winners announced

Elected Officers: Vice President/President-Elect, Treasurer, ALD/ACRL-WA Board Director, SpLD Board Director, and ALA Councilor will be expected to attend WLA Board Retreat on Sunday, Oct. 27.

If you have questions about any position, you may contact the WLA Office, or go the the current Board, Division, or Section roster to find contact information for the person that currently fills the position, or to whom the position reports. Please note that WLA Committee Chairs are appointed by the Board President and do not need to go through this election process.

Terms of office begin Jan. 1, 2025, and are one year, unless otherwise noted.


WLA Board Positions

The below positions are open in 2025 and will be elected by the entire WLA membership.

  • Vice President/President-Elect (elected annually, serves later as President, then Past President, voting member)
  • Board Director, Academic Library Division/ACRL-WA Representative (two-year term, elected in even-numbered years, voting member, candidates must be a member of the Academic Library Division/ACRL-WA)
  • Board Director, Special Library Division Representative (two-year term, elected in even-numbered years, voting member, candidates must be a member of the Special Library Division)
  • Treasurer(two-year term, elected in odd-numbered years, voting member)
  • Student Representative (elected annually, one-year term, non-voting/ex-officio member)
  • ALA Councilor (three-year term, voting member, candidates must be a member of both WLA and ALA)
