As a current WLA member, please take a few minutes to vote for our 2023 Board, Division, and Section leadership! Voting is open through Oct. 26, 2022.

  • Step 1: Read through the candidate statements.
  • Step 2: Vote using our online ballot.

To access the voting form, you will be prompted to log in to your WLA account.

All current WLA members may vote for WLA Board positions. Ballots for WLA Divisions and Sections are restricted to current members of those groups.

If you'd like to vote for particular candidates in a Division or Section you don't currently belong to, please complete the Add a Division or Section Form. Additional Division memberships are $10 each. All Sections are FREE to join.

New leadership terms will begin Jan. 1, 2023.

Nominations Being Accepted

Are you seeking leadership experience? Looking to meet new people in the library field? Passionate about advocacy for libraries and library professionals? You've come to the right place! Whether you're a longtime member or new to the association, WLA invites you to throw your hat into the ring for a leadership position in 2023. There are many opportunities to get involved. Self-nominations are welcome!

Nomination Form

Explore the variety of leadership roles that WLA has to offer, below!

All nominees should complete the nomination form and email their headshots to [email protected] by the due date. Statements in the nomination form should be approximately 250 words and should describe how your skills and experience make you the best candidate for the position. You may want to consider these guiding questions:

  • What skills would you bring to the position?
  • What qualifications make you a viable candidate for the position?
  • Where would you like to see WLA and the Division/Section in the future, and what would you do to move it toward that vision?

July 20, 2022 – Nominations open (may nominate self or others)
Sept. 30, 2022 – Nominations due date
Oct. 5, 2022 – Online elections open to all WLA members
Oct. 26, 2022 – Online elections close
Oct. 28, 2022 – Election winners notified
Nov. 2, 2022 – Election winners announced
Jan 1, 2023 – New leadership terms begin

Nominations are open  for all vacant 2023 WLA leadership positions, from the WLA Board of Directors to our Division and Section steering committees. If you have questions about any position, you may contact the WLA Office, or go the the current Board, Division, or Section roster to find contact information for the person that currently fills the position, or to whom the position reports. Please note that WLA Committee Chairs are appointed by the Board President and do not need to go through this election process.

Terms of office begin January 1, 2023, and are one year, unless otherwise noted.


WLA Board Positions

The below positions are open in 2023 and will be elected by the entire WLA membership.

  • Vice President/President-Elect (elected annually, serves later as President, then Past President, voting member)
  • Treasurer (two-year term, voting member, must be a member of WLA)
  • Board Director, Academic Library Division Representative (two-year term, elected in even-numbered years, voting member, candidates must be a member of the Academic Library Division)
  • Board Director, Special Library Division Representative (two-year term, elected in even-numbered years, voting member, candidates must be a member of the Special Library Division)
  • Student Representative (elected annually, one-year term, non-voting/ex-officio member)

The below positions are open in 2023 and will be elected by Division members. Additional steering committee positions may be appointed by the incoming Chair. If you're interested in additional opportunities in a Division, view the Division Chair roster to contact the leadership of that Division.
