Where do you work? University Prep in Seattle What is the most important work that you do to benefit your community? The most important work I do is to empower young people to be intellectually courageous, socially responsible citizens of the world. How long have you been a WLA member? I’ve been a WLA member, or member of WLMA since 2010 (8 years) What is your most memorable WLA experience? My most memorable WLA experience was when Anne Bingham and I (while not attending the WLA conference) snuck into the Davenport Hotel balcony and crashed the keynote just in time to hear J.A. Jance sing “I Learned the Truth at Seventeen.” In what other ways have you gotten involved with WLA? I’ve been on the School Division Steering Committee for years. I’ve also served as CAYAS iSchool Representative, Chair of the WLA Scholarship Committee, Chair of the Marketing and Communications Committee, and member of the Awards Committee. What would you tell someone new to libraries about joining WLA? Being involved in WLA has been a wonderful combination of fun and learning. Attending conference is one of the highlights of my year.
